Wedgies

Two years ago in Before Kevin (BK) time - during my dabble in to eHarmony dating, I went on a first date with an engineer from NASA. Score! Right?

Well I hadn't talked to him too long before we decided to meet up for dinner and a movie in North Houston. He told me the theater and restaurant were 'halfway' between both of our places. A on the map is me, B was him, C was the theater.

Not 10 min. in to the trip I got a text, "Uh oh. I'm here," he wrote. Nice. So he sat in his car for the next hour and twenty minutes as I drove to the theater. That should have been clue #1 that this relationship was doomed.

Clue 2: We saw Zach and Miri Make a Porno. On a first date. A Kevin Smith movie with naked people - THAT'S not awkward.

Clue 3: I love a good wedge salad, and after our waiter left the table with our orders he reassured me, "You didn't HAVE to order a salad just because you're with me. You should have ordered what you wanted." Thanks for that, Dad.

The icing on the cake: We walked to our cars, and as we neared mine I had the sneaking suspicion he was going to try to kiss me! Pass. My fears were confirmed when he held up a finger and said, "Just a second." Then he turned his head and spit his peppermint from the hostess' table into the grass.

So I gave him a quick hug, "Nice to meet you," with my head turned to the side - goodbye and drove home.

The Wedge
I love that wedges are back in a big way this summer. They are probably the most comfortable tall shoe there is. I know many women tell me they -just couldn't- wear that tall of a shoe, but comfort is all in the angle. If the heel is tall but the platform is tall and your foot isn't at a horrible downward angle, you should be fine. Some of my most comfortable shoes are wedges.
