Leotarded

As a freshman in high school I was desperate to escape the clutches of the P.E. teachers. I hated the uniforms and sitting 'Indian-style' in long lines of sweaty kids who didn't care. I think the coaches enjoyed making us do those extra triangle pushups claiming we could stop "when so-and-so would do them right!"

So I signed up for drill team prep. I hadn't planned on doing drill team, and I hadn't taken a dance class in years. But it would get me out of the power-hungry clutches of the P.E. coaches. So I did it. I had to get special shoes, a leotard and dance pants. My only fashion reference for dance attire was a Jane Fonda workout video I'd sometimes do with my mom and sister at home, so I assumed the leotard went over the pants. Luckily they were both black. After a week in class where everyone was NOT wearing them that way and I was asked by one girl why I was, I quickly gave in to peer pressure and started wearing my pants over my leotard. Thank goodness because I ended up doing drill team through the rest of high school and wore lots of leotards and dance leggings.

This weekend I wore some black capri leggings with a patterned tunic to a friend's house. Their dog greeted me by jumping on my leg for attention so I said hello and scratched behind his ears. My friend told the dog to "get down before you ruin her leotards!" I chuckled in my head, but I didn't correct him.

I'm loving leggings, they are so comfortable and I can even wear them to work! I told a coworker I hoped leggings were still in style when I decide to have a baby because I can't imagine anything more comfortable than them for maternity wear.

Here are a few GREAT options for patterned leggings.
Hurley Crank Leggings $41; Torrid Black and White Tie-Dye Leggings $28; Joan Vass Python Leggings on sale for $79, regularly $92.
