Last year I had a pair of Nine West reed woven wedges with a brown, polka-dotted fabric that crossed over the toes. There was no heel strap, but I knew how to work 'em. I came in to work one day in a navy skirt, cream blouse, green cardigan and sporting my wedges. Said hello to the CFO as he turned up the stairs to his second-floor office, and I headed down to my office in the "Garden Level." I felt like a pack mule hauling lunch and snacks in a bag in my right hand, my purse on my shoulder and my laptop in my left hand. Just as I rounded the landing in the stairs to head in to the depths of the dungeon, I fell flat on my ass with a THUD. I tried to catch myself with my right hand, squishing the berry yogurt cup inside the bag. The purple swirls splattered the carpet and my cream blouse. Daaaangit!
The CFO, either having not made it to the top of the stairs or having the hearing of Lassie, called down, "Are you hurt?" "Just my pride," I muttered to myself. "Oh no, no I'm OK!" The polite gentleman that he is, he came rushing down the stairs to help me anyways - no doubt concerned about worker's comp with each step. ;0) So, new rule. Tall shoes, full hands - USE THE ELEVATOR.
