So the wedding is finally over and I can return to my regularly scheduled programming. My brother is married, the champagne is finished and I think I only made my mom and sister cry once. Each.
Here is my family in their wedding attire. My sister - far right - selected the dress I recommended for her from the LBD on Little post.
As you can see, with a little strap shortening procedure courtesy of my grandma, it looks GREAT on her. (Target LBD $40)
But there's so much more to tell you. The weekend before the wedding my aunts, grandma and I hosted a bridal shower for Kim, my brother's wife, at my grandma's house. That morning I went to scout the gazebo for the ceremony with Mom, Kim, brother and pastor. And as you can imagine - September, Dallas, outside = HOT. So I wore leggings and a long, belted T with a denim jacket (sleeves rolled up) from Lane Bryant to run errands and scout the location.
I arrived at grandma's house sticky and hot with my bag o' goodies to change for the shower. After lugging in balloons and pitchers and bags into the house I plopped on the couch. "Well she looks like hell," said my grandmother's sister while sporting a Hawaiian shirt. She recently moved in with my grandma and is a sparkling ray of sunshine. Thank you, *Crazy* Aunt Hawaiian shirt.
What I wore while looking like hell.
Scoop Neck Pocket Tunic: $25
Denim Jacket: $60 (bought last year, but this is very similar)
Studded Belt: $30 (I bought the belt at LB outlet, but this is similar)
Leggings: $25

You actually looked pretty cute, just a little bit sweaty.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the dress recommendation! I may even wear it to work this week.
WOW y'all look great! :)
ReplyDeleteRachel - gotta share what the Lucas Dohmanns' little diva (6-going-on-26 Kendall) had to say about the wedding. "Oh, Mommy, she wore the prettiest dress. It was WHITE!!! She also wore a crown, a medium one not a big one. At the party after, we had strawberries dipped in chocolate and chocolate covered sticks. I think they were really pretzels." Mikayla just said "When I get married I'm having a chocolate fountain, too."
ReplyDeleteLove that innocent perspective - oh, the surprise of an all-white dress. I guess you could say our kids don't get out much ;) Anyway, I'm so glad that they got to be with you guys on the big day. They really enjoyed it all!...Kristi
It was so good to see them! I'm just sorry I couldn't sit and chat with them more, mom and I were spinning tornadoes making sure plates were picked up and food and drinks refilled. Kendall didn't even know who I was, lol. I guess that means we need to see y'all more often!!
ReplyDeleteyou could do weddings for a living!
ReplyDeleteI'll write you an awesome recommendation letter.
