Susie Homemaker

I feel like little Susie Homemaker. I'm clipping coupons, making grocery lists, buying new cookbooks and making things like chicken pot pie for dinner from scratch. Ok - except for the dough. That's thanks to Pillsbury's little Susie Homemakers. Or little Susie Doughmakers I guess.

Last night I pulled out the new cookbook and tried one of the recipes. Now tell me WHY I can charge fearlessly into cooking battle with a new recipe, but I almost always screw up rice? I follow the directions on the back, but inevitably the pan will run out of water before the rice is done - making it chewy or even crunchy. *Sigh*

I tried to time dinner so it would be ready just about the time Kevin came home from work. Not because he expected it, but because I just wanted to gift him that. He had actually told me he wanted whatever would be easiest for me to make for dinner. An hour later, and the new recipe was ok. Anything made with Italian sausage gets a gold star.
