Cue from Kitty

Monday morning I woke up at 4:30 a.m. crying. I had a nightmare that I was at my parents' house and all three of the doggies had escaped to the front yard. We grabbed two, but one fell victim to the six-lane street out front. I was devastated. Kit Kat (Kitty) is the daughter of the other Dachshunds, and we ended up keeping her as a puppy because her lower jaw never grew as long as it should have. As a result she has a little bit of an overbite which gives her a classy, beavery look.
And it's not too far off to imagine that I would be the one to find her. As a kid I always ended up finding the dead pet. Gruesome, I know. I was the first on scene to the bunny murder of '99 when Kitty's dad finally met Mom's rabbit. I also was the first to meet a litter with two stillborn puppies and discovered our Shelty (who had cancer) after Kitty's mom had attacked her. Good times.

So naturally, on the way to work yesterday I called up Mom to check on Kitty. Thankfully I'm just crazy and not psychic because Kitty peeked at Mom through the bushes with her beavery grin and wagged her tail goodmorning.
